We are a school based in Switzerland and plan to run training seminars in
Portugal. Before the official launch we want to test the set-up and
are looking for 3 participants. You get free accommodation (private
room) and food. In exchange you have to provide feedback so we can
improve on the training. At the end of a successful completion of the
training the ´certificate of advanced studies in tourism´ will be
awarded.
The training itself is very practical and physically not demanding.
Expect to spend max. 10 hours per week visiting and working on organic
farms. Jointly we will prepare our own food, change roles in the
kitchen (from chef to commis), do food tasting, do live streamings
e.g. holding a tea ceremony with a Japanese expert etc.
We are a total of 5 people and some might be vegetarian which we
respect. Therefore, all meals will be vegetarian. If you want to eat
meat please do so in your room or outside. Our theme is about tourism
and hospitality which goes without saying that all facilities need to
be clean. Everyone is expected to contribute to the cleanliness of our
place. We expect that everyone cleans his/her room and common areas
such as kitchen, garden, swimming pool and BBQ.
Although located in Faro, the neighbourhood consists of residential
houses so disturbing noise levels at night will not be appreciated.
During the four weeks we need to take pictures and compile videos
which will serve as promotion material on our website. Since we are an
academic institution you don´t have to worry about putting up anything
compromising. It is in our own interest to be seen as serious (after
all we are Swiss).
We will accept 3 volunteers. One of them should be a multimedia
specialist who can turn the pictures into a nice video which we can
post on social media sites.
For your information, the ´certificate of advanced studies´ is an
official university degree in Switzerland. Therefore, you need to have
a high school diploma (Bac, Abitur, Matura etc.) or higher to
participate. Before you come to Faro you have to attend an online
preparation course which is a computer simulation on sustainability
(play the game Fishbanks developed by the Massachusetts Institute of
Technology).
We can promise you a fun project in a beautiful setting. Expect to
spend around 4 hours per day on the project which includes site trips
and joint activities such as cycling or BBQ. Most of the time we will
spend in nature.
