Description

We're looking from August for AT LEAST 4 WEEKS for a farm sitter on our beautiful farm right by the river. Our lovely farm lies directly on the river at the Polish/German border in the beautiful Oberlausitz. Bordering it is the largest forest in Central Europe and the well-known Kulturinsel Einsiedel. We bought the small farm in December 2020 and moved in straight away with our 3 dogs and 20 chickens. We now have 4 runner ducks, 5 sheep and over 60 chickens (most of them are chicks). Now about us: I (Lisa, 26) am a trained perennial gardener for organic plants and have focused on permaculture. I've been working for 6 years in a Bioland nursery that operates according to permaculture principles. I love designing gardens according to ecological principles and turning my surroundings into a little paradise. Gunnar (37) is a trained painter and generally the super handyman for everything. Gunnar takes care of the house and farm, but he's also super capable in the garden and has engaged deeply with the anthroposophical way of growing. His speciality is composting. Now a bit about the area: Our municipality Neißeaue is the easternmost municipality in Germany and is part of the Oberlausitz. The beautiful small town of Görlitz is only about 15 minutes away. In about a 20-minute walk along the river, you reach the Kulturinsel Einsiedel and a floating treehouse café. There you can enjoy tasty drinks and cross a small bridge into Poland. On the Polish side begins the largest forest in Central Europe. The forest is worth exploring, because everywhere there are tiny, super sleepy Polish forest villages and you can also find the odd forest pub/forest café. SOOOO WORTH IT!! YOUR TASK: Since I (Lisa) am currently working in Hamburg and Gunnar has several construction jobs in Magdeburg this year, we're looking for YOU! A responsible person, or happily two, who will take over our role for this time. Daily tasks during the week: -> at 8 am let the sheep, ducks and chickens out & top up the feed + water bowls. At dusk close the chicken coop and duck house and bring the sheep into the stable. -> Care of the vegetable bed + watering the plants and trees. -> -> Have fun! Eat fresh eggs, harvest the vegetables from the garden and cook yourselves something lovely with them! ACCOMMODATION: Sleeping in the guest room or in your own van on the meadow by the river (with electricity and compost toilet) HOW DOES IT WORK? Gunnar will be away on weekdays and come back at weekends.
