I grew up with animals, and I have a cat living with me (unfortunately, just one since last year). Cats, dogs, a foster pony, guinea pigs, a pigeon with a wing injury, budgies, and even a rescued pair of chickens have been part of my life since childhood. Old, young, cheeky, shy, affection-seeking, and even sick animals—they taught me to adapt to the individual needs of a living creature and to give it space and/or care. After finishing my studies, I worked for two years as a temporary assistant at the Berlin Animal Emergency Clinic (though I’m in the media industry and have no veterinary training) and also spent years house-sitting for a lovely couple with cats. I love cuddling with animals, but I can also give them space. Cats, in particular, can often be a bit finicky. Since my first pet-sitting gig in 2021, I’ve looked after dogs, horses, cats, chickens & geese, and a guinea pig in Sweden, Scotland, France, Spain, and Germany. I have a driver’s license, I enjoy sports, and I eat little to no meat—just in case that’s something you’d prefer not to have in your fridge. German is my native language; I speak English and Dutch fluently and a little French. I’ve traveled across several continents, sometimes on my own, and have been vaccinated multiple times against tetanus, rabies, etc., as well as COVID-19. I also have liability insurance. So if you’re looking for a reliable, calm, and down-to-earth person over 40 with life experience, we’ll probably be a good match. As for my vices: In the evenings, I sometimes enjoy smoking a cigarette with a glass of gin and tonic in the garden, but I never smoke indoors—and I can completely give it up if you’d prefer. I’m too old for partying ;). I live in Saxony and would love to move to a place surrounded by nature—I’d especially love to be near the ocean. Somewhere where I can take your dog for hours-long walks and cuddle with your cat in the garden or on the couch in the evenings, away from city life. My hope is that we can treat each other with honesty, respect, and openness.
