House Sitting Starting in Fall 2026

Hello, I’m Carmen, and I’d like to introduce myself as a house sitter. Next year, I’d like to go on a long-term trip. For the months leading up to that, I’m deliberately not looking for a new long-term apartment, but instead, I’d like a temporary home that I can take care of while the residents’ absence. I’m looking to start in mid- to late September 2026 and ideally stay for several months through the winter. I’m flexible regarding the end date and, if it works for both of us, I’d be happy to stay until February or March 2027. Professionally, I currently work in Pfäffikon ZH, supporting people with disabilities in their workplaces. That’s why my search is focused on the Pfäffikon ZH area and the Zurich Oberland, since my workday starts early. Therefore, the home should be easily accessible by public transportation.

What I offer

For several years now, I’ve regularly taken care of my sister’s home, her garden, and her cats and guinea pigs whenever she’s away on extended vacations. As a result, I’ve gained a lot of experience with house sitting and see it as a wonderful and fitting way to pass the time until my trip. For me, house sitting naturally includes standard cleaning tasks, caring for plants, as well as—if applicable—the yard, vegetable garden, and looking after cats or small animals. For any special tasks, I’m happy to have someone show me exactly what to look out for. It’s especially important to me to remember that a stranger’s home is always someone else’s home. I treat it with the appropriate care and respect. A mutual basis of trust and clear agreements are therefore very important to me. I like to put key details in writing together so that it’s clear to both sides what is expected and what needs to be observed during the owner’s absence. If you’re traveling for several weeks or months and would like someone who will treat your home with care and look after it reliably, I’d be delighted to hear from you and get to know you in person.
