Ola, and boa tarde from the Azores. We, Kiki and Jürgen, both over 55, have been living in Portugal for over 10 years on the beautiful island of Sao Miguel (Azores). We live here in the countryside, with a view of the Atlantic and the volcano Lago de Fogo in the background, on the north coast of the island of Sao Miguel. It is a beautiful place with a natural garden, a small greenhouse and some fruit trees and a large natural forest. The property is out of town, a very quiet and natural area, the nearest towns about 5 km away are Ribeira Grande and Rabo de Peixe. Thanks to the subtropical climate on the island, our garden thrives all year round, but so do the weeds! That's why we would like some extra help from time to time. On our large forest and meadow property with a main house and holiday house / camp house there is always something to do. We are looking for nice people who need some time out and want to get involved. We need you e.g. in the household, garden, and forest. Ideally you are a tradesperson, carpenter, joiner, welder, painter – simply hands-on oriented. A software developer with hands-on ambitions is also welcome. Many smaller projects are waiting… We are looking for friendly, open and reliable people who enjoy working with plants and nature and can take good care of the space they live in. Above all, though, we are looking for someone to support us with our smaller projects. Sometimes we will work together, but we need someone who does the tasks independently. We are hoping for independent and manual work; in return we would provide you with accommodation and are happy to cook together and do things together now and then. We do not provide food and would ask you to cook for yourself, but we gladly share everything that grows in the garden or that we make ourselves (jam, bread…). If you bring enthusiasm and creativity, you are very welcome here. You should be good with animals (animal-loving), close to nature and weatherproof. Rain, wind and sun change several times an hour. We have four friendly dogs and two cats that are part of the family. So we can only take in people who like both. We can offer your own room with a bed. Kitchen and shower/WC may have to be shared. If you are interested in living with us for a while and helping us, please send us a message and tell us a little about yourself.
