Hello dear people, On my farm there's an old farmhouse that is being renovated and partly restored and extended. A wide variety of jobs need doing: • Every day there are small, simple "helper jobs" to do, such as mucking out the horse stable, watering the garden, carrying things from A to B, mowing the lawn, harvesting/processing fruit, weeding or similar (depending on the season). • Helper work on the conversion of the house, or, if you're an experienced tradesperson, independent skilled work • In the horse stable, there are also always challenges awaiting creative hands-on solutions when something is broken, or when a short-term change to the horses' housing is necessary (e.g. because a horse is ill). • For all jobs there will be someone on site who knows what they're doing and will tell you what to do and how. From you, we'd expect you to help out as an assistant. But if you're a tradesperson and can work independently, all the better. Then you'll need to work fewer hours per day (see below). Our village is a small, sleepy Eifel village surrounded by gorgeous nature. You won't find any action here, but you will find peace, plenty of fresh air, and from the sunbathing lawn on my farm a wonderful panoramic view of the Eifel landscape. There are three lovely horses who are happy to be cuddled by you. In the adjacent Vulkaneifel there are the maar lakes, which are perfect for cooling off in crystal-clear volcanic lake water and having a chilled-out day. The "Hohes Venn" nature park with its huge moorland is not far away either. The Eifelsteig offers beautiful, idyllic and varied hiking stages between Trier and Aachen, which is also nearby. In the neighbouring village of Schönecken you can book llama hikes, for example. On our farm, a separate bedroom with two beds is available for you, which can also be heated in winter. There's also a fully equipped building-site kitchen with everything you need for cooking. (We share the kitchen during the day). In both rooms the floors aren't finished yet (only screed or floorboards still to be sanded) and the walls also still look like a building site. But we find it very cosy. There's no shower on the farm yet. Only a toilet and washbasin, and that only in building-site ambience with a paving-stone floor. That's why I currently still live in the neighbouring village myself, where you can alternatively sleep/shower too. A lovely guest room awaits you there in my cosy, large apartment with balcony and sunbathing lawn. More pictures gladly sent on request. If you fancy spending a lovely time in the Eifel, just tell me when you want to come, what work you can do and how much you'd like to work (0176-97831220, i.hannegref@web.de). • If you're not so skilled at manual work and take on simpler tasks, free accommodation is available from 1.5 hours of work per day. • If you're a tradesperson or can work well and independently, there's free accommodation for 1 hour of work per day, and for 2 hours of work per day accommodation and meals. If you want to work more, from the 3rd hour there's an additional reward :-)). For a heated kitchen/bedroom in winter, one more hour of work is required. • If you'd like a guided walk-pace ride on our beginner-friendly horses, the horses will be delighted. The rule for that: you should work extra for roughly as long as the ride lasts. About the building site: Sometimes material or decisions on how to proceed on the site are missing, or we're taking a break from building. Then there isn't enough work available to earn your meals. Just ask shortly beforehand :-)) About working: we don't watch the stopwatch. So far it's always worked out that nobody felt they had to work too much, and we never felt anyone was working too little. Everyone works as much/little as he/she considers appropriate. About food: Tradespeople who work independently for at least 2 hours will — if desired — be cooked for by us. With non-professionals doing more helper jobs, we handle it so that we also eat together, if you'd like, and everyone contributes a little to the meal. The nearest supermarket is 6 km away and we're happy to drive you there if you arrive without a car. About sleeping: You're of course also welcome to camp on our property. But we don't have any equipment for that, and you'd need to bring a tent, caravan or the like. I look forward to getting to know you and hosting you on my farm. Irmi Hannegrefs
