PARADISE GARDEN

Description

I’m a bon vivant of retirement age, a German speaker (who emigrated from Switzerland); I also speak English, some French, a little Italian, and am learning Portuguese, since I live in Portugal… or rather, on a little island paradise that belongs to Portugal… Right in the middle of the Atlantic… pure nature, a “UNESCO Biosphere Reserve,” with a mild climate… (The sea is still 19–20 degrees in January)!!! That’s Porto Santo near Madeira… There, I’ve created a paradise garden…The small house has been finished since August 22, and I’ve been living in it… There’s still plenty of garden space to tend and design… In my little house, I also have a guest room, but over the past few years I’ve built a sandbag house (Sandy) and a wooden garden shed as well… Now I’m looking for someone who’d like to live here with me—a sort of senior living community—and, of course, help out with the garden and the house…  My “Paradise Garden” project now also includes a wooden outdoor stage for dancing, a laundry shed (Lavandaria), a workshop container, and a vegetable garden… I was actually expecting visitors and helpers from my circle of friends.(I’ve been living here since February 1, 2020. But due to the pandemic and the resulting global circumstances, many stayed home. Yet this place was—and still is—an oasis, especially in these turbulent times… quiet, peaceful, pure nature…the best mild climate for staying healthy... That’s why I’m looking forward to welcoming more nature lovers who enjoy gardening and appreciate the tranquility—creative, freedom-loving people who love the vastness of the sea and the sense of security offered by a small, intimate island... When I can share the joy of gardening with someone, that’s an active vacation for me, too... There’s still so much beauty here to share... for example, the gorgeous long golden sandy beach, which is a draw even in winter thanks to the mild climate...for swimming… or simply for a walk along the beach with “feet in the water”… but the “inland and the rugged cliffs” are also paradisiacal… So I’m currently offering a “vacation in exchange for a helping hand”…also to find “like-minded people” who, if we become friends, might even consider moving here…A shared creative project, about 3 hours a day, with spontaneously chosen days off and possibly some shared free time as well... Ideal for a peaceful “break”… Winter temperatures here range between 15 and 21 degrees...I also offer assistance with travel arrangements. I’ve had quite a few guests here so far, and we’re still in touch. Now, however, I’m primarily looking for people approaching or at retirement age who can imagine moving here... Getting to know each other beforehand (online) is a requirement for me, though, since this is my home and living together should be a good fit for both of us... Thank you!
