Horse farm in an Eifel village

Description

We run a small riding school for children (not a big commercial operation, very family-like) in the Eifel and are always happy to welcome nice guests. We have 15 ponies and horses, 4-28 years old, 93-165cm; riding is possible up to approx. 75kg. 2 well-behaved, calm female dogs, 2 cats, a riding arena, a covered round pen, wonderful terrain. Every now and then we look for cover when we go on holiday (for example, 21.-25.5. would still be free this year, feel free to come earlier/stay longer; during this period we won't be here ourselves). During this time the horses would need to be checked on. Most of them will then be out on a large pasture outside the village; a fly mask might occasionally need to be put back on, there isn't much more to do there. Mucking out at the house (approx. 20 minutes per day), possibly topping up water with a hose. For this I'm looking for people who definitely have horse experience! Without small children (at least 12). Riding isn't possible while we're away, but happily before/after. Then walking the dogs or letting them into the yard now and then, feeding them, putting out food for the cats. Total effort at most 2 hours per day. Otherwise we're looking for people who'd enjoy supporting us with the kids during the holiday program; helping with grooming and saddling, leading the pony,… Feel free to bring in your own ideas too :-) Of course I don't expect full-day help, we'll come to an agreement (it's always worked out great so far). Also happy to welcome e.g. a single mom whose child (at least 6) then takes part in the holiday program. Experience with horses isn't necessary; what matters to me is that you're genuinely up for kids, horses and a great, relaxed time. We enjoy the holidays too, it doesn't feel like work :-) Then, outside the RLP school holidays, we're always looking for someone to help keep the horse gang entertained ;-) Exercising them (riding is welcome too), maybe pitching in at the stable now and then (not a must). The more horse experience you have, the freer the division of tasks :-) Please no kids under 6 for this either. Handy people are always welcome here too; since we've been continuously expanding the farm for three years, there's always something to do. We offer two lovely guest rooms, newly renovated last year. One with a 140cm double bed, the other with two bunk beds. You'll have your own large daylight bathroom. Kitchen, living room and garden may of course be shared. Riding is of course possible by prior arrangement. We have various ponies and horses for both beginners and advanced riders. Neidenbach is a quiet village with around 900 inhabitants. There's a great village shop with fresh rolls daily and meat from the butcher. We have lots of hiking trails right around the village. There are many castles to visit nearby; Luxembourg and Belgium can each be reached in around 30 minutes by car. Bitburg is about 15 minutes away. Our animals are all relaxed and experienced in dealing with all kinds of people; even when things get loud and lively, nobody here bats an eye 😉 We've been offering holiday-for-help for around two years now and have already gathered many wonderful experiences. We're happy to embrace every new guest. We are non-smokers, but have no problem with smokers as long as no one smokes in the house or the stables. We're in our mid-30s, our child (7) is very outgoing and is always especially excited about guests with children. I'm a very relaxed vegetarian and have no problem with meat eaters. My husband eats meat in moderation. We're happy to eat together, but providing groceries isn't included in the offer. With more help, of course, that's something we can talk about.
