"Hello world, we're a young couple who moved to central Portugal in 2023. Here we've started a project we had dreamed of for a long time. We're in the process of creating a self-sustaining, permaculture-inspired agrotourism quinta. Since we're still at the very beginning of our project, you have the unique chance to be part of it from the start. That means you're warmly invited to get involved in the various design processes and be part of the organic growth of our infrastructure. It also means you'll be part of a simple and provisional lifestyle :) We build decks, sanitary facilities and many different installations ourselves with local suppliers and natural building materials (stone walls, clay floors). For the bigger projects like our A-frame and our yurt, we work closely with national suppliers. These projects are always a good opportunity to learn about woodworking, electricity and water supply, and general planning based on the principles of permaculture and fire safety. There's also always the chance to garden with us (general upkeep, new beds and a soon-to-come food forest) and do landscaping. Even if you don't consider yourself "handy", you're very welcome to join us, learn, teach and support us with our daily tasks. At the moment we can only provide you with a tent, so you're very welcome to visit us with your own van or camper. Kitchen, sanitary facilities and electricity are available. Our property has a creek and a river beach, both wonderful for swimming and cooling off. At the moment we don't have much home-grown food, but we try our best to source it locally and organically. In spring and summer, nearby Sangemil offers a natural thermal pool. There are several hiking trails very close to us. If you like cities, we're near Viseu and Coimbra.
