Description

Good day, First off: this listing is aimed exclusively at people who appreciate rustic, simple living :-) Ideally you travel self-sufficiently with a campervan or caravan, but arriving without one is also possible by arrangement! The stated work exchange has priority, but people with general handyman skills or who want to do garden maintenance are also welcome to enquire, as there is always plenty to do. OFFER WHEN: from now on, for at least 1 week, longer is also welcome. Also possible at any later time. FOR WHOM?: Roofers, tradespeople, all-rounders, families and dog(s) also welcome WHERE: Near Gießen in beautiful central Hesse, not far from the Lahn, Lahn hiking trails, lovely half-timbered towns and above all in the middle of nature. ACCOMMODATION: It's a very large plot located outside town, completely fenced with its own ponds and several, partly solid cabins. Electricity is provided by a petrol generator, water has to be pumped, toilet with pit and watering-can flush. Gas stove and gas heaters as well as an earth fridge are available. Hot water has to be boiled; if you can handle a cold shower, you can use a battery-powered domestic water pump. Solar showers and a solar panel, e.g. for charging your phone, are available. You can "live" here fairly simply but very relaxed. All everyday items such as dishes, cooking utensils, barbecue and barbecue utensils, seating etc. are available. The plot itself offers quite a few activities, like riding the lawn tractor (even just for fun ;-)), making campfires, archery, fishing, collecting and using natural materials, or simply enjoying the peace and quiet. Many bird species and amphibians live here and it is surrounded by meadows and forests. The nearest villages are about 3 km away, where you'll also find shops. A car therefore makes sense, but arriving by train to Gießen is also possible and I'm happy to pick you up :-) WORK EXCHANGE: Re-roof the roof of a solid garden house (approx. 25 sqm, concrete ceiling, flat roof), by arrangement with corrugated sheets or torch-on membrane, materials are provided! Since it's the sleeping house, which has been leaking for 2 years and now needs to be renovated first, it's best if you arrive with a campervan or caravan. If not, the current living room can be converted into a sleeping room for up to 4 people by arrangement. Depending on the length of your stay, there are also other jobs to be done. For the roof renovation (which an experienced hand can probably complete in 1-3 days) we would make the plot available for 1-3 weeks. We can drop by during your stay by arrangement, so you can also enjoy a few days of complete peace and quiet. For further questions, please get in touch :-)
